China Mobile to make investment in technology innovation

Telecom network operator China Mobile’s Chairman Shang Bing today said its strategy will focus on expansion of digital services and investment in technology innovation, addition of new businesses and new business models.

China Mobile will be strengthening the content media business and expanding smart technology and applications for some key industries.

This apart, China Mobile sees huge growth potential in the Internet of Everything (IoE). In the next five years, connectivity in China is expected to exceed ten billion, creating a business of over one trillion yuan.

China Mobile’s operating revenue rose 2.6 percent to RMB 668.3 billion in 2015.

For the first time, China Mobile’s revenue from data services exceeded revenue from voice services, accounting for 52 percent of revenue from telecom services.

China Mobile 4G

China Mobile’s 4G network has approximately 1.1 million base stations. Its 4G network provides coverage to more than 1.2 billion people. China Mobile’s average download speeds on urban roads exceed 37Mbps.

China Mobile added over 200 million 4G customers in 2015, bringing 4G customer base to over 300 million.

Mobile data traffic of China Mobile increased 143.7 percent; DOU increased 118.5 percent; and its revenue from wireless data traffic increased 30.5 percent, reaching RMB 200.9 billion.
