Bakcell deploys Number Portability Solution from PT

Telecom Lead Europe: Bakcell has deployed PT’s SEGway
Number Portability Solution for their network in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The Number Portability solution was deployed on PT’s
SEGway Signaling platform, a modular and scalable system that is already an
integral element of Bakcell’s mobile infrastructure.

“We faced an enormous challenge of selecting a
vendor, testing, and turning up Number Portability within a very short window
of time, and without impact to our network. We were confident that PT would
deliver the quality we are accustomed to and meet our deadline. We are
extremely pleased with their product and service,” said Jordan Rashev, head of
Network Management Center Unit at Bakcell.

Backcell said that it has upgraded the solution to comply
with the country’s Ministry of Communications’ mandate for service providers to
make mobile number portability available to subscribers this year.

Bakcell serves nearly 2.6 million customers. SEGway’s
carrier-grade IP backbone provides an ideal platform for seamless growth and
the addition of revenue-generating features as networks evolve to next generation.

“It is PT’s rich and lengthy history of experience
in the signaling field that enables us to nimbly respond to service providers’
challenges such as these,” remarked John Slusser, President and CEO of PT.

PT claims that its SEGway Signaling products are deployed
in over one thousand locations, providing the Signaling backbone for many of
the world’s premier wireless networks.
