Aircel to invest Rs 100 crore to add 850 telecom towers in West Bengal

Telecom network operator Aircel is planning to add 850 mobile towers in West Bengal in 2015 by making an investment of Rs 100 crore.

Aircel will be adding 350 of telecom sites in Kolkata, while 500 will be added in other parts of West Bengal circle.
The main focus of Aircel will be on expanding its 3G network. Aircel is going slow with its 4G plans.

Aircel currently has 4,000 telecom towers — 2G and 3G — in Kolkata and around 3,800 in rest of West Bengal.

Sanjeev Garg, business head – Kolkata and Rest of West Bengal, Aircel, told reports that the telecom company will be investing Rs 100 crore towards Capex (capital spending) to add 350 sites in Kolkata and another 500-odd in rest of Bengal.

Aircel has 75 lakh users in the state — 40 lakh in Kolkata and 35 lakh in rest of West Bengal. Aircel is aiming 50 percent growth in subscribers by December 2016.
