ZTE enters smart grid solutions market in India

ZTE announced its foray into the Smart Grid solutions market in India. The
company has launched a range of end-to-end solutions which will address the
urgent need for creation of Smart Grids by the Power sector in the country.

The launch is in line with the company’s strategy of introducing its
technologically advanced products and services to cater to the technology
requirements of the Government and of enterprises across industries for
enhanced growth in the country.

With investments in smart grid solutions in India
expected to grow to $10 billion in a span of 5 years, ZTE has entered into
partnerships with infrastructure vendors and system integrators like Dongfang
Electronics and TCIL for jointly offering these solutions to power generation
& distribution companies in India. The company is also in advanced talks
with Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) to offer its range of
end-to-end Smart Grid solutions.

The demand for power in India is far outstripping supply
and a significant percentage of power generated is lost during transmission due
to which power generation & distribution companies are focusing on adopting
efficiency enhancement solutions,” said ZTE India CEO Cui Liangjun.

With its extensive experience of catering to the
requirements of the power sector across markets including China, Nigeria and
Europe, ZTE is looking at ushering in a technology revolution in the Indian
power sector and play a pivotal role in addressing the country’s energy
requirements,” Liangjun added.

ZTE will focus on providing end-to-end smart grid
solutions including smart meters, transmission networks, clouding computing
solutions, video conferencing and video surveillance solutions along with Next
generation Contact center solutions. These technologically advanced solutions
will not only drive efficiency in the existing distribution network but will
also integrate green power generation technologies with the existing
infrastructure. ZTE’s offerings will provide the Indian power sector with an
opportunity to adopt highly efficient and reliable smart grid solutions at a
low OPEX and maintenance costs.
