ZTE demos 4G rail telecom solutions at GITEX 2014

Telecom network vendor ZTE on Monday said it is showcasing its 4G rail telecom solutions at GITEX and the Middle East Rail Technology Exhibition.

At GITEX 2014, ZTE is displaying traffic conditions, bus arrivals and other public travel information on an interactive touch screen. Attendees can use their mobile devices to scan a two-dimensional code and install the app for real-time access to this information.

ZTE has already supplied its 4G rail telecommunication solution to the Wenzhou City Railway Line S1 project in China.

ZTE solution provides 3 TD-LTE-based services including wireless multimedia broadband  trunking, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) and Passenger Information System (PIS).

In December 2012, ZTE and Zhejiang Mobile constructed 4G TD-LTE network covering the Jiaxing section of the Shanghai-Huangzhou high-speed railway. The project provided the world’s first 4G data download on a train running on a high-speed railway, at a speed of 350km/ph.

The adoption of TD-LTE technology in the communication network of rail has transformed trunking dispatching, which can be used to carry voice and data services, transmit image, video and train-control signals as well as supporting featured functions for rail communication, said ZTE in a statement.

This apart, ZTE will demo rail telecommunication solution including a dedicated subway telecom system solution, and a railway telecommunication system sub-solution at the Middle East Rail Technology Exhibition, a rail transportation technology event in March 2015.
