Ericsson has achieved the top position in Omdia’s 2025 Market Landscape RAN Vendors report, standing out as the leading vendor in both business performance and portfolio. This dual recognition reflects the company’s consistent drive for innovation, its expanding global 5G presence, and a strong, energy-efficient product lineup.

Omdia has evaluated 11 RAN vendors based on their market strength and product capabilities, grouping them into leaders, major challengers, and upcoming vendors. Ericsson emerged as the clear leader in both assessment categories, reinforcing its dominance in the mobile infrastructure sector.
Remy Pascal, Practice Leader, Mobile Infrastructure at Omdia, says: “Ericsson stands as the market leader in both business performance and portfolio dimensions. The company secured more 5G deals and expanded market share in 2024 versus 2023.”
“Ericsson’s portfolio excellence is demonstrated through flagship radio products such as the AIR3266 and AIR3265, and baseband products such as the RAN Processors 6672 and 6655. Additionally, Ericsson has strengthened its partner ecosystem, further solidifying its industry position,” Remy Pascal said.
Key factors behind Ericsson’s top ranking:
5G Market Leadership: Ericsson commands a 36 percent market share outside China, the highest among all vendors. It increased its 5G contracts with communications service providers (CSPs) and gained further market share in 2024 over 2023, signaling strong business momentum.
Portfolio Excellence: Ericsson’s radio portfolio, including Massive MIMO solutions, leads the industry in breadth, energy efficiency, and innovation. The company’s RAN Compute baseband products also outperform competitors in energy metrics and support for all RAN technologies, from 2G to 5G.
Open RAN Readiness: Ericsson’s commitment to open networks is evident in its advanced Open RAN-ready portfolio, with support for the eCPRI packet-based open fronthaul protocol.
Flagship Products: Ericsson’s AIR3266 and AIR3265 radios, along with its RAN Processors 6672 and 6655, underscore its technical leadership and capacity to deliver high-performance solutions tailored to evolving network needs.
Partner Ecosystem Strength: Beyond products, Ericsson has deepened collaborations across its ecosystem, adding to its strategic advantage in deploying end-to-end network solutions.
Ericsson leads the market, ranking highest in both business performance and portfolio dimensions. It expanded its 5G deals with communication service providers (CSPs) and gained market share in 2024. Key strengths include a broad radio portfolio, advanced massive MIMO (mMIMO) products, and efficient baseband units. Its partner ecosystem score also improved.
Huawei holds second place in business performance with the largest market share but fewer new deals than Ericsson. It ranks closely behind in portfolio capabilities and leads in several sub-categories, notably in radio breadth, mMIMO, and baseband capacity.
Nokia ranks third overall. While it secured the highest number of new logos, a drop in market share impacted its business score. Its RAN portfolio is solid but less expansive than Ericsson’s or Huawei’s. Notable strengths include its baseband solutions and strong partner ecosystem.
ZTE, having entered the leaders’ tier in 2023, improved its radio portfolio and partner ecosystem standing. However, its business performance declined slightly in 2024 due to market share loss influenced by a less favorable regional mix.
