VNL presents portable emergency communication solution ResQMobil

VNL has launched ResQMobil, a portable emergency communication, search and rescue system that can be made operational in less than an hour, providing voice, video and data connectivity.

VNL’s founder chairman Rajiv Mehrotra said: “ResQMobil is assisting first responders and public safety agencies in restoring connectivity and minimizing the impact of disasters using technology.”

ResQMobil aids emergency response by providing an independent communication network to first responders. The solution supports search and rescue operations by providing mobile location of affected civilians, and integrates with different legacy radio networks to provide information to authorities.

VNL said first responders and public safety agencies can tailor the emergency communication solution to specific area or country requirements. It’s designed to work during all natural and man-made disasters including earthquakes, storms, floods and tsunamis, fires, and terrorist, chemical or nuclear attacks.

ResQMobil features

# GSM Network-in-a box with integrated BTS, BSC, MSC HLR, etc. for establishing an independent communication network

# Geo-locator to help locate people who may be trapped under rubble, by locating mobile phones

# Universal gateway for patching communication over various platforms like HF, VHF to mobile or PSTN networks

VNL said first responders and public safety agencies can connect the ResQMobil solution with the outside world with available backhaul, including satellite — through appropriate arrangements with operators.

VNL has partnered with Indian telecom operator BSNL to provide disaster relief services in India, the SAARC region and other countries.

VSL in a statement said it aims to tap leading disaster management agencies such as National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), their state counterparts for offering the ResQMobil solution.
