Telefonica selects Tech Mahindra for network and services operations

Telefonica Deutschland has selected Tech Mahindra for its network and services operations in addition to develop 5G, artificial intelligence and machine learning use cases.

“We are supported by a globally experienced service provider to consistently drive forward the development of our network and services operations, thus leading to enhancement of 5G, artificial intelligence and data analysis use cases,” Mallik Rao, chief technology and information officer of Telefonica Deutschland, said.

Telefonica Deutschland has more than 42.4 million connections excluding M2M as of 30 June 2020 in Germany.

Telefonica Deutschland generated revenue of EUR 7.4 billion with almost 8,500 employees in 2019.

The Capex (capital expenditure) of Telefonica Deutschland dropped 4.2 percent to €475 million in H1 2020, reflecting Capex-to-sales ratio of 13.1 percent.

Telefonica Deutschland’s revenues increased 0.3 percent to €1,790 million in Q2 2020 and rose 2 percent to €3,636 million in H1 2020.

Telefonica generated revenue of €1,597 million from mobile business, €322 million from handset business and €193 million from fixed business.

“This partnership strengthens our relationship with Telefonica for realizing its vision of becoming the Mobile Customer and Digital Champion by 2022,” Vikram Nair, president, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) of Tech Mahindra, said.
