Tejas Networks Wins PowerGrid Teleservices Project to Deploy SDN-Based DWDM Network Across India

Tejas Networks, a provider of optical and data networking products, has announced that it has secured a major Telecom Capacity Augmentation Project from PowerGrid Teleservices (PowerTel), a subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL).

Under the project, Tejas Networks will implement a SDN-based DWDM network to enhance PowerTel’s backbone infrastructure. The scope of the contract includes network design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of a 400Gbps DWDM system at new greenfield sites, along with upgrades to existing network links.

Tejas Networks will deploy its multi-terabit TJ1600 DWDM/OTN platform, capable of delivering up to 1.2Tbps per wavelength and supporting advanced alien wavelength technology. This solution will significantly increase PowerTel’s network capacity and flexibility to meet the rising demand for high-bandwidth connectivity from telecom operators, data centers, enterprises, and government networks.

Arnob Roy, Chief Operating Officer of Tejas Networks, said the project highlights Tejas’s strength in developing cost-effective, high-capacity optical solutions.

This collaboration reflects Tejas Networks’ leadership in optical networking and SDN-based transport technologies for large-scale public and enterprise networks. The deployment of the TJ1600 DWDM/OTN system will enable PowerTel to deliver multi-terabit connectivity, supporting India’s accelerating 5G rollout, cloud adoption, and enterprise digital transformation.
