5G FWA Boom: 150 Million Global Subscriptions Forecast by 2030

Omdia forecasts global 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) subscriptions will reach 150 million by 2030, up from 71 million in 2024, growing at a 23 percent CAGR and generating $46 billion in service revenue. India is expected to lead with 37 million subscriptions, followed by the U.S. at 20 million. Other notable markets include Nigeria, Italy, and Japan. Operators are advised to adopt segmentation, bundling, and AI-driven personalization to maximize monetization.

Network X 2025, held in Paris from October 14–16, highlighted the future of telecom with interactive exhibits and live demonstrations. Industry leaders including Nokia, Huawei, Intel, and Qualcomm presented innovations in AI-driven broadband, 5G monetization, and sustainable infrastructure. Co-located forums like the Wireless Global Congress EMEA and UBBF 2025 focused on ultra-broadband and sovereign infrastructure. Programs such as the Emerging Telecom Leaders Programme nurtured young talent, while the Network X Awards recognized sector excellence.

NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS and NTT Com Asia Unveil Lightning-Fast APN Service for Hong Kong Financial Hubs

NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS and NTT Com Asia launched the “APN InterLink” service in Hong Kong, effective November 1, 2025. The service uses All-Photonic Network (APN) technology under the IOWN initiative to deliver ultra-low latency connectivity for financial institutions. Key features include APN DCLink, enabling direct interconnection between NTT Com Asia’s Financial Data Center and Tai Po Data Center for mission-critical financial operations, and APN DedicatedLink, allowing seamless connections between customer facilities or data centers within Hong Kong, including ultra-low latency access to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX).

India’s Telecom Sector Gears Up Against Phishing Threats with DoT-Led Initiative

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is enhancing the Indian telecom sector’s resilience against phishing and cyber threats. A recent webinar, part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, brought together over 250 participants, including DoT officials and telecom providers, to discuss combating phishing, improving cyber governance, and strengthening organizational resilience. Experts highlighted the rise of phishing, vishing, and AI-driven scams, emphasizing the importance of user awareness and proactive engagement, IANS reports.
