TCS launches VoLTE NFV platform for telecoms

VoLTE users to grow at 145 percent CAGR from 2012 to 2017
IT services provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) launched a solution to enable Voice over LTE for virtualized networks using TCS’ Network Function Virtualization (NFV) Concerto platform.

TCS is partnering with Brocade, Metaswitch and Ixia, on Intel Xeon platforms to demo deployment and verification of Voice over LTE service in virtualized networks.

The NFV Concerto platform — deployed on Intel Xeon processor-based servers leveraging Red Hat’s OpenStack — integrates Brocade’s virtualized Evolved Packet Core, Metaswitch’s virtualized Internet Multimedia System and Session Border Controller, and Ixia’s IxLoadTM  Wireless, to demonstrate voice over LTE service on a virtualized mobile network.

V Rajanna, global head of Technology Business Unit, TCS said that TCS’ NFV Concerto platform reduces development and test cycle times for virtualized network functions by automating functional, performance, scalability and compliance testing.
