Phoenix Tower announces build-to-suit contract with Iliad in Italy

Phoenix Tower International (PTI), a global wireless infrastructure provider, has announced a Build-to-Suit (BTS) agreement with Iliad, a leading mobile network operator in Italy.

The telecom tower partnership aims to develop up to 1,900 new telecommunications sites in densely and moderately populated areas across Italy, enhancing Iliad’s 4G/5G network coverage.

Iliad Group, according to its recent earnings report, is Europe’s fifth-largest operator with 50 million subscribers.

Dagan Kasavana, CEO of Phoenix Tower International, said: “This transaction is aligned with our European growth strategy and enables us to strengthen our footprint in Italy.”

Iliad Italia recently said it maintained its position as net add leader in the mobile market, for the 25th consecutive quarter, with 279,000 net new mobile subscribers joining iliad Italia in Q2.

Iliad Italia also ended the second quarter as leader for net adds in the fixed market, notching up 35,000 new subscribers.

Iliad Group’s capex amounted to €1.86 billion, representing 19 percent of its revenues, on a last twelve-month basis (June 2023 to June 2024).

Top priorities of Iliad Group are 5G network expansion, support the growth in our B2C and B2B subscriber bases, and step up investments in artificial intelligence through the acquisition of computing capacity and the expansion of data centers.
