Telecom network operator Ooredoo Group has signed a five-year frame agreement with Alcatel-Lucent – focusing on ultra-broadband IP and transport networks.
This contract will cover telecom operations of Ooredoo in Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific and Southeast Asia.
Through the new agreement, Ooredoo aims to make investment in improving quality of services to its customers, address the shift to video, cloud-based services and networking traffic growth.
Ooredoo has posted revenues of $9.1 billion in 2014. It had global customer base of 114.9 million customers as of 30 September 2015. Ooredoo has signed a similar 5-year frame agreement with Ericsson as well.
Alcatel-Lucent will supply packet microwave, optical networking & IP routing platforms which will enhance Ooredoo’s customers’ experience. Alcatel-Lucent is also providing its professional services expertise including network management services.
The new agreement follows Ooredoo’s strategy to enhance network performance across its global footprint, to deliver a superior online experience for customers.
