Mediacom Fires Up the Broadband Race with Blazing 5-Gig Internet Rollout
Mediacom Communications has launched its fastest residential broadband service yet with the debut of 5-Gig Internet, marking a major step in its multi-gig expansion strategy across smaller U.S. markets. The new service is already available to more than 500,000 homes in nine states, with plans to reach over one million homes by the end of 2026. Powered by the company’s fiber-rich infrastructure and next-generation DOCSIS technology enhanced by AI, the rollout aims to improve speed, reliability, and network performance without requiring major construction. Mediacom said the service also includes Wi-Fi 7 technology through eero devices, supporting seamless gaming, 4K streaming, and remote work as demand for high-capacity broadband continues to grow.
Broadband Breakthrough: MaxLinear and GCT Unite to Power the Next Wave of 5G Connectivity
MaxLinear and GCT Semiconductor have announced a strategic partnership to develop advanced 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) and converged gateway solutions aimed at both consumer and enterprise markets. The collaboration combines MaxLinear’s Wi-Fi and network processing technologies with GCT’s 5G and LTE modem expertise to create integrated AnyWAN gateway platforms capable of seamlessly switching between fiber, cable, and cellular networks. The companies plan to showcase the technology at Computex Taipei in early June. The partnership targets the rapidly expanding FWA market, where telecom operators are seeking cost-effective, multi-gigabit broadband alternatives with improved reliability, SD-WAN capabilities, and lower deployment costs for OEM customers and service providers.
Lightcurve Supercharges Central Washington with Lightning-Fast 8 Gig Fiber Internet
Lightcurve has launched a new 8 Gig symmetrical fiber internet service across Central Washington, bringing ultra-fast broadband to communities including Ellensburg, Selah, and Kittitas. The service delivers up to 8 Gbps download and upload speeds, positioning the company as the fastest internet provider in its regional markets. Powered by advanced 10 Gig-capable mesh Wi-Fi technology, the offering is designed to support bandwidth-heavy activities such as AI applications, cloud workflows, gaming, streaming, and remote work. Lightcurve said the expansion reflects growing demand for faster and more reliable connectivity for homes and businesses. The provider also confirmed plans to extend the 8 Gig service to Western Washington cities including Tacoma, Centralia, and Chehalis in the near future.
