HFCL Scores ₹135 Crore Telecom Win as India’s 5G Push Accelerates

Indian telecom equipment maker HFCL has secured a ₹135 crore contract to supply indigenously designed telecom equipment, reinforcing its position in India’s expanding telecom infrastructure market. The order is expected to improve revenue visibility over the next two to three quarters of FY27 while supporting the company’s shift toward higher-margin, product-led business segments. The deal also highlights growing demand for locally manufactured telecom hardware amid ongoing 5G and broadband network expansion. HFCL’s strategy of focusing on advanced telecom products, exports, and domestic manufacturing continues to gain traction, supported by strong industry capex trends and government-backed localization initiatives. Investors are also watching the company’s growing order book and improving profitability momentum closely.

Satellite Showdown: Starlink Triggers High-Stakes Telecom Race in Uganda

Starlink’s entry into Uganda is reshaping the country’s telecom landscape, pushing major operators MTN Uganda and Airtel Uganda into a race to secure satellite-powered connectivity advantages. Following Uganda’s provisional approval for Starlink, Airtel has already begun testing Starlink’s Direct-to-Cell technology, allowing ordinary smartphones to connect directly to satellites without extra hardware. Meanwhile, MTN is exploring partnership talks to expand rural internet coverage and lower infrastructure costs in underserved regions. The move signals a major shift from viewing Starlink as a competitor to treating it as a strategic infrastructure partner. Analysts believe the collaboration could significantly improve digital access across remote areas of Uganda while intensifying competition in East Africa’s evolving telecom market.

Aviat Networks launches long-haul microwave portfolio targeting $250 million market opportunity

Aviat Networks has introduced a new long-haul microwave portfolio designed to improve network capacity, reliability, and cost efficiency for telecom operators and private network providers. The upgrade integrates Pasolink and IRU600 products into a unified all-indoor platform supporting long-distance connectivity and backbone applications. The company said the new solutions open an additional addressable market worth more than $250 million.

The Pasolink VR platform increases nodal capacity by up to 50 percent, supports up to 16 radios from a compact chassis, and enables hitless software upgrades with enhanced redundancy. Aviat also launched Pasolink LH for rugged terrains, inter-island links, and remote deployments as a lower-cost alternative to fiber. The system can deliver over 10 Gbps aggregate capacity while using antennas that are 50 percent smaller and 75 percent lighter than conventional systems. Shipments are expected to begin in Q3 2026.
