Nokia Selected by K2 Telecom Brazil for Network Security Solutions and Revenue Growth Opportunities

In a strategic move to enhance network security and explore new revenue avenues, K2 Telecom Brazil has chosen Nokia as its trusted technology partner. The collaboration will see Nokia deploying solutions aimed at fortifying the ISP’s network security and enabling the creation of innovative service offerings.
K2 Telecom jobNokia is set to implement its distinctive BNG/CGNAT wholesale solution, empowering K2 Telecom to offer all IP infrastructure and ISP requisites as a service. Furthermore, the deployment will include cloud-based DDoS defense as a service, bolstering K2 Telecom’s security capabilities and overall service robustness.

K2 Telecom’s emphasis on embedding network-embedded DDoS security led to the selection of Nokia Deepfield Defender. This innovative software-based DDoS detection and mitigation solution integrate network data, such as telemetry, DNS, and BGP, with Nokia’s patented Deepfield Secure Genome. This cloud-based, continuously updated data feed monitors the security context of the internet, providing real-time insights.

Deepfield Defender offers unparalleled DDoS protection capabilities, critical for K2 Telecom to maintain seamless service delivery while ensuring customer safety. Through Secure Genome technology, the solution offers detailed visibility into billions of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, categorizing internet traffic across various security-related types and categories.

Notably, this deployment marks the first instance of Nokia Deepfield Defender in a regional ISP within this geographical region. For BNG coupled with CGNAT, Nokia will deploy its Multi-Access Gateway hosted on its market-leading 7750 Service Router based solution. This ensures scalability, performance, capacity, and reliability essential for K2 Telecom to provide secure wholesale broadband services.

Leandro Garcia, Chief Technology Officer at K2 Telecom, emphasized the importance of internal DDoS mitigation to prevent disruptions for end customers. He praised Nokia’s solution, affirming that mitigation is executed within the routers’ chipset, ensuring real-time responses without impacting customers.

Carlos Barroso, IP Leader for Latin America at Nokia, acknowledged the growing footprint of Nokia in the ISP market and expressed gratitude for K2 Telecom’s trust in Nokia. He looked forward to further collaborations as K2 Telecom continues to innovate and expand its B2B ISP services in Brazil.

Highlighting Nokia’s commitment to network security, the company offers a comprehensive range of Network Security products, solutions, and services. These encompass endpoint security, IoT security, access security, digital identity management, security orchestration, DDoS defense, network encryption, firewalls, and self-defending network infrastructure.

The Nokia Threat Intelligence Report 2023 highlighted a fivefold increase in IoT botnet DDoS traffic over the past year. This alarming trend stems from insecure IoT devices attempting to disrupt telecom network services, underscoring the urgency for robust security measures in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
