NEC signs agreement with Telenor for transport network

NEC signed a global framework agreement with telecom network operator Telenor Group to supply transport network, including microwave, IP routers and optical.

NEC has tied up with Juniper Networks and Infinera for the system integrator contract with Telenor. As per the agreement, NEC will manage the delivery, installation and commission of equipment.

Earlier, NEC supported Telenor Group’s rollout of 3G and 4G mobile services across the globe as a global supplier of microwave communications systems since 2006.

Under the new contract, NEC, Juniper Networks and Infinera will provide IP transport routers and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical communications equipment to the Telenor Group’s 13 telecommunications affiliates worldwide.
