MWC 2015: Nokia tech demo to aid telecoms to handle 1000 times traffic

Nokia Networks today said its demo at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2015) will be focused at assisting telecom operators to deploy mobile networks that can serve 1000 times the traffic by 2020 against 2010.

The combination of technologies can deliver 10 times more cells, 10 times more spectrum and 10 times more efficiency.

The technology evolution will assist telecom operators to prepare for 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Nokia Networks will extend the macro parity Small Cells offering with dual band LTE pico cells and a Flexi Zone 3G/Wi-Fi base station.

The telecom network vendor will ensure significant LTE-Advanced additions. There will be special focus on Carrier Aggregation launches for TDD-FDD, Small Cells and between sites.

8-pipe TD-LTE-Advanced 3.5GHz radio and expansion to unlicensed bands with LTE-U technology will be another focus area.

Enhancements in LTE- and TD-LTE-Advanced, including MIMO 4×4 and Downlink CoMP (Coordinated Multipoint) will be improving spectral efficiency.

Nokia Networks said single RAN Advanced portfolio now enables carbon neutral base station sites, with several launches including the launch of a new Radio Antenna System and advanced energy saving software.

The company’s new Multi-layer Optimization service can reduce unnecessary handovers by up to 20 percent.
