Ericsson will integrate the networks of Orange Spain and MASMOVIL, enhancing performance with scalable, flexible, and sustainable network solutions designed for an open network architecture.

Starting in October 2024, Ericsson will deploy a high-capacity 5G Standalone (5G SA) network, particularly focusing on rural areas in Spain, providing extensive 5G coverage.

MasOrange will use Ericsson’s energy-efficient Radio System products and Open RAN-compatible Massive MIMO technology, allowing the network to handle more data and improve user experience through increased capacity and cost-effectiveness.

The use of Massive MIMO Time Division Duplex (TDD) technology and network densification will enhance 5G service availability in both urban and rural areas, including large venues.

MasOrange CEO Meinrad Spenger and Ericsson VP Jenny Lindqvist underscore the partnership’s significance for the future of European telecommunications, aiming to create a more open, programmable, and sustainable mobile infrastructure.
