Juniper Networks launches bots to accelerate Self-Driving Networks

Juniper NetworksJuniper Networks announced Juniper Bots, a series of new applications designed to simplify network operations by translating intent into automated workflows.

The solution will help service providers, enterprises and cloud providers to accelerate their drive towards Self-Driving Network, the company said.

Juniper Networks also announced updates to the Juniper Extension Toolkit.

With these solutions, Juniper Networks hopes to address some of the key challenges faced by its customers while scaling and automating their networks.

A study conducted by Juniper Networks revealed that lack of internal education and skill sets prevents the adoption of network automation. Lack of an integrated end-to-end solution is also cited as a barrier to network automation efforts.

Juniper Contrail Intent Bots and AppFormix Analytics Bots change the way network operators interact with the network.

Juniper Bots, which leverage both the Contrail and AppFormix platforms, incorporate real-time analytics that are designed to translate higher-level business requirements (the “what”) into automatic configuration changes across the network (the “how”).

The new bots announced by Juniper also include Contrail PeerBot, Contrail TestBot, and AppFormix HealthBot.

Juniper has also extended the current management and control API framework of JET to the data plane, enabling developers to create applications with direct data plane access on Juniper’s vMX and MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers.

“Juniper Bots bring us closer to our vision for The Self-Driving Network, one that requires less human intervention and the ability to focus on more strategic business initiatives,” said Sally Bament, vice president, service provider marketing, Juniper Networks.

“To move at the speed of business, network operators need to spend less time precisely managing manual network knobs and levers, and more time expressing intent,” Bament added.
