On the eve of MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei announced it will launch an open source project for the A2A-T (Agent-to-Agent for Telecom) protocol supporting software during the event.

The initiative is designed to accelerate global adoption of telecom-grade agent communication standards through open collaboration and to help build an open, interoperable and prosperous Agentic Internet ecosystem.
A2A-T Framework for Autonomous Networks
As artificial intelligence advances rapidly, Highly Autonomous Networks have become a strategic direction for the global communications industry. In this context, industry collaboration and standardized agent interaction frameworks are critical to ensure scalability, reliability and security.
The A2A-T protocol, including the IG1453 beta version and the enhanced prompt meta-model IG1453A, was jointly released by global telecom industry partners at TM Forum Accelerate Week on February 6, 2026.
The framework provides a unified interaction model for multi-agent collaboration, addressing key operational challenges faced by telecom operators in automated production environments. These include improving collaboration efficiency, strengthening reliability and ensuring secure agent-to-agent communication across complex systems.
Three Breakthroughs Enabled by A2A-T
As a standardized agent interaction protocol, A2A-T marks a new stage in telecom automation and intelligent network operations. It delivers three major industry breakthroughs:
Integration efficiency improvement: Reduces system integration cycles from months to days, accelerating deployment timelines.
Cross-domain collaboration: Breaks traditional task boundaries to support complex workflows across domains and vendors.
Ecosystem convergence: Lowers interconnection barriers through unified standards, fostering a sustainable and collaborative industry ecosystem.
By standardizing how AI agents interact within telecom environments, A2A-T enables operators to scale intelligent automation while maintaining interoperability and security.
Open Source to Drive Global Adoption
While standards define industry direction, open source accelerates real-world interoperability and innovation. In alignment with the Autonomous Networks industry roadmap, Huawei will open source the core supporting software for the A2A-T protocol to move the standard from consensus to large-scale global deployment.
The open source project will include several key components:
A2A-T Protocol SDK
Provides integration tools that enable standardized communication and interaction between intelligent agents across telecom systems.
Registry Center
Supports authentication, addressing and skill management for multiple agents, ensuring secure and efficient discovery and coordination.
Orchestration Center
Enables low-code and no-code visual workflow orchestration, with pre-built high-value solution packages that simplify deployment and accelerate automation initiatives.
Building the Agentic Internet
By open sourcing the A2A-T supporting software, Huawei aims to strengthen global collaboration among operators, vendors and ecosystem partners. The initiative supports the evolution of telecom networks toward highly autonomous, agent-driven architectures.
As the industry advances toward 6G and intelligent network operations, standardized agent-to-agent communication will be foundational to enabling scalable automation, cross-domain intelligence and new service innovation models. Through A2A-T, Huawei is positioning the telecom sector to enter the Agentic Internet era, where intelligent agents collaborate seamlessly to deliver more agile, reliable and intelligent digital services worldwide.
