Huawei to give equal focus on telecom products and services

Huawei Rotating and Acting CEO Eric Xu today said the telecom network company is attaching equal importance to both products and services.

The strategy of Huawei is different from Ericsson.

“We’ve redefined our carrier business strategy. Instead of prioritizing products over services, we are now attaching equal importance to both of them. We will invest more in services to provide customized commercial solutions,” Xu said.
Huawei aims to become a leader in telecom network planning, network optimization, and customer experience management (CEM).

“We will lead the modernization of the managed service industry, shifting the industry’s focus from networks to services and experiences, and from Opex saving to value creation,” Xu said at the 12th Global Analyst Summit in Shenzhen, China.

William Xu, chief strategy marketing officer of Huawei, said: “Real-time, On-demand, All-online, DIY, and Social (ROADS) experience will reshape network architectures, operation models, and business practices.”

Last week, Ericsson president and CEO Hans Vestberg revealed the change in the business mix, with 66 percent of the company’s sales for 2014 coming from services and software. Vestberg spoke on Ericsson’s strategic direction in which the company is set to excel in its core business, where it has market leader ship in mobile infrastructure and telecom services. Ericsson aims to build a leading position within target areas in which the company is investing – IP networks, cloud, OSS/BSS, TV & Media, and Industry & Society.

“Huawei will tap into its innovative technologies, pool resources worldwide, and collaborate openly with customers and partners to assist the ICT transformations of carriers and enterprises. Through open cooperation, Huawei aims to build a robust ecosystem for this Better Connected World and ensure the sustainable development of the ICT industry,” William Xu said.
