Huawei offers an industry-first Microwave solution for FTTx

EWE TEL broadband network in GermanyTelecom networking and software major Huawei announced an industry-first Microwave solution for FTTx, claiming to offer all-media giga-access platform.

The solution deploy gigabit-capable ultra-broadband over different forms of access media. Both microwave links and existing fiber, copper and coaxial cables can be used to expand Gigabit network coverage.

Huawei has deployed the gigaband strategy for enhancing bandwidth levels and coverage. The Huawei Microwave solution claims to improve coverage and offers guaranteed bandwidth and service experience.

Microwave technologies enable quick deployment, even over geographically challenging terrains in terms of coverage.

Also fiber laying, right-of-way (ROW) acquisition, and trenching can be avoided with time for the same slashed down to complete site rollouts from one to six months down to just one to two weeks.

Also, Huawei combines a variety of innovative microwave technologies like large-capacity E-band and Super Dual Band (SDB) solution to offer a transmission capacity ranging from 1 to 10 Gb/s.

The added benefit of microwave radio air interfaces are low latency and superior high-throughput mechanism.

These advantages aid in enhancing service experience, especially for high definition videos.

With a history of Huawei Microwave solution for FTTx already deployed commercially in multiple countries such like Greece and China, the latest solution will aid to:

# Improve line speed lagging due to poor quality of old copper for fixed line operators.

# Ease the acquisition of optical fiber resources to quickly deploy OLTs.

The solution will also remove hurdles to encourage gigabit-capable networks.

Enhanced deployment efficiency and overall cost cutting for broadband construction is intended to develop interconnected networks by building giga-access throughout the world.

The UN Broadband Commission and Huawei conducted an Ultra-Broadband Forum 2016 (UBBF 2016) in Frankfurt, Germany.

The event set to develop communication between global operators, content providers, consumer electronic manufactures, Internet service providers, and regulatory agencies, with discussions on the latest trends leading to an ultra-broadband and sustainable development being organized during it.

The launches from Huawei, which has seen an overall growth of 40 percent in the first half of the year, have come at a time when study reports pointed out that the global microwave market will grow by a CAGR of 19 percent from 2016-2020, as per Technavio. The market is expected to touch $5.2 billion by 2020.
