Telecom Lead America: G8 Networks, a service provider
with presence in twelve metropolitan areas in Brazil, has selected PeerApp, a
provider of transparent caching platforms for Internet content delivery, to
provide its UltraBand transparent caching platform.
UltraBand will help G8 deliver Internet content,
including video and multimedia, with improved quality, while reducing
associated network load and costs.
G8 Networks offers services including Internet access,
data, voice and hosted solutions.
As part of their standard technology selection process,
G8 Networks conducted an evaluation of transparent caching capabilities
available in the market. Principal
UltraBand supports the broadest range of services and
content types including video, file sharing and software distribution. It
supports HTTP and peer-to-peer traffic within the same server, providing
maximum capacity and flexibility in a small footprint.
UltraBand preserves application logic for network-based
services. It fully complies with provisions set by the U.S. Digital Millennium
Copyright Act (DMCA) and adopted globally.
Moreover, UltraBand integrates with existing network
elements such as routers and DPI switches to reduce the cost and complexity of
network integration.
PeerApp products are installed in dozens of operator
networks in Brazil and over 270 networks worldwide.
“Our subscribers are continuing to demand more from
our network and transparent caching is the key solution that allows us to offer
a high quality of experience while minimizing our network costs,” said
Rodrigo Bernardes, engineering director, G8 Networks.
PeerApp’s UltraBand transparent caching platform speeds
content delivery and reduces network load by automatically detecting popular
content and storing and delivering it from the network edge. UltraBand
accelerates content delivery by 4-10X, while reducing transit bandwidth and
network infrastructure costs by 40 percent and more.
“PeerApp will help G8 deliver advanced networking
services with the best possible quality and substantial network savings. Our
rapid adoption in Brazil is driven by the growth of this market and the value
that we bring to operators here,” said Javier Jimenez, senior vice
president and general manager, Americas, PeerApp.
