Telecom Lead Asia: Fujitsu announced the launch of FLASHWAVE CDS Micro Packet Optical Networking Platform (Packet ONP) for Optical Transport Network (OTN) switching.
The FLASHWAVE CDS 6.1 complies with industry standards while exceeding the competition by providing 80G of non-blocking (any to any) ODU0/1/2 switching within a 2RU rack space – the highest available density in the industry.
Fujitsu’s new OTN switch is ideal technology for converged network and the FLASHWAVE CDS 6.1 with its switching capabilities allow the OTN unit of the FLASHWAVE CDS to act as a capable Muxponder and provides functionality for versatile protection switching schemes, hairpinning applications, and distributed switching applications.
The OTN unit has a range of pluggable optics options including 88 channel Full Band Tuneable XFP that allows the user to bypass transponders when co-located with ROADMs for significant Capex savings.
The solution will decrease the Carrier’s Opex investment as well.
Rod Naphan, senior vice president of Product and Strategic Planning, Fujitsu, says Fujitsu has a long standing tradition of optical integration and OTN is the latest proof point.
Fujitsu’s advanced technology can act as a Gateway Network Element to the downstream FNC SONET family of devices, while being transparent to other SONET devices that are unmanaged. This can save the service provider from having to backhaul the SONET management from a distant site, providing better visibility and operations savings.
The FLASHWAVE CDS 6.1 is fully environmentally hardened and can be deployed anywhere including an OSP cabinet or up on a telephone pole. It has a 19”, 2RU, 300mm footprint and doesn’t require other elements such as external fans or baffles.
