Ericsson President and CEO Hans Vestberg today announced new Radio System, HDS 8000, and the upgrade to Cloud System in India at @Ericsson Connect 2015.
“Strengthening our position as a software company, as well as establishing early leadership in the standardization and realization of the next generation of mobile networks, or 5G, are key factors for success,” said Vestberg during the keynote on Wednesday.
Ericsson has conducted a demonstration of pre-standard 5G radio technology, delivering speeds of 5Gbps using 15GHz spectrum.
At Ericsson Connect, the telecom network company introduced its new Ericsson Radio System in India. The Radio System delivers energy-efficient and compact radio solution, while maintaining performance leadership at half the size and weight of previous solutions.
Ericsson Radio System reduces site acquisition issues and delivers three times the capacity density with a 50 percent improvement in energy efficiency. Telecoms can utilize the Ericsson Radio System and cut total cost of ownership (TCO) by 20 percent.
Ericsson said the HDS 8000 datacenter system uses Intel Rack Scale Architecture for a disaggregated hardware approach to improve efficiency, utilization, automation and TCO.
“With the new Radio System, operators will be able to address increased demand for mobile broadband and ensure continued subscriber satisfaction. The Ericsson HDS 8000 is built with advanced automation capabilities that take datacenters and central offices to a new level of cloud economics, security and efficiency,” said Paolo Colella, head of Region India, Ericsson.
