Telecom Lead Asia: Ericsson has appointed Mats H Olsson as senior vice president Asia-Pacific (APAC).

The heads of regions North East Asia, India and South East Asia & Oceania will report to Mats H Olsson.

In this new role, Mats will become the chairman of the three Ericsson regions located in APAC, region North East Asia, India and South East Asia & Oceania, respectively.

APAC is an important market for Ericsson.

Recently, Ericsson said global services increased 19 percent in Q3 of 2012. Operators in South East Asia and Oceania focus on network performance and quality which had a positive impact on global services sales. Networks sales decreased y-o-y reflecting lower activity levels in certain countries. LTE deployment is ongoing in parts of the region.

Ericsson India has posted 24 percent decrease in revenue in third quarter of 2012 to SEK 1.73 billion from SEK 2.27 billion in the same period last fiscal.

Mats will continue to report to Ericsson President & CEO Hans Vestberg and be a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Mats H Olsson currently holds the position as Head of region North East Asia, a position he has held since 2010.

Mats will remain in his current role as head of region North East Asia until a successor has been appointed.
