DragonWave inks microwave radio deal with Blue Wireless

dragonwave-and-small-cellDragonWave has announced that mobile operator Blue Wireless has ordered 100 Horizon Compact+ and Horizon Quantum packet microwave radio links for deployment in its ongoing network expansion.

DragonWave, a global supplier of packet microwave radio systems, revealed that the Bandwidth Accelerator payload compression technology has enabled the Blue Wireless network to gain 40 percent greater capacity per channel than alternative solutions, allowing for multi-gigabit capacity for core and access links.

“Our evaluation of microwave radios was thorough and based on finding a fiber-equivalent solution with the scalability to meet our growing capacity demands. DragonWave’s Horizon Compact+ and Horizon Quantum demonstrated the performance and reliability required to maintain the highest quality of service for our growing customer base,” said Eric Wong, VP Engineering and Network Operation, Blue Wireless.

Blue Wireless, a regional cellular carrier offering nationwide coverage, is currently undergoing examination and improvement of its network to meet hike in capacity demands.

The New York based operator will deploy DragonWave ring architecture capability, to achieve an economic and resilient, carrier-grade backhaul network with the scalability and fiber-equivalent performance needed to meet its current and future expansion requirements.

Blue Wireless offering CDMA/LTE service since 12 years provides wireless communications services in Western NY, the Southern Tier of NY and Northern Pennsylvania covering over 2 million people.
