Ciena selects WANDL solutions for multilayer data network

Telecom Lead Asia: Ciena, a provider of network
infrastructure solutions, has selected solutions of WANDL, a provider of OSS
solutions, for modeling and monitoring of networks.

Ciena selected WANDL solutions as a primary network
modeling tool for multilayer data network designs that encompass routing and
packet-optical transport.

“Ciena is a recognized leader in converged optical
Ethernet solutions and we are very excited to work closely with them as they
take their next generation optical transport and switching platforms to the
market,” said Dave Wang, president, WANDL.

Ciena
has expertise in Packet-Optical Transport, Packet-Optical Switching, Carrier
Ethernet, and Network Support Services. Ciena selected WANDL because of its
unique capability to do optimal multilayer data network design.

WANDL Solutions for IP, Transport, and Multi-Layer Design
will be used to collectively analyze an organization’s network and design an
optimal multi-layer topology taking into account various costs and constraints
for each network layer as defined by the user.

“WANDL Solutions provide Ciena with the tools and
analysis capabilities necessary to engage our customers on forward looking
multilayer IP+transport strategies,” said Joseph Berthold, VP Network
Architecture.

Recently, Fibrecomm Network, Malaysia’s network carrier deployed Ciena solution featuring advanced
optical technologies that include 40G, OTN switching and directionless ROADMs
to expand its network infrastructure.

By deploying Ciena’s 40G solution using WaveLogic
coherent technology, Fibrecomm is able to cost-effectively add significant
network capacity without the need for a major network redesign.
