Ciena revenue up 8% to $573 million in Q1

said its revenue grew 8.3 percent year on year and fell 17.2 percent quarter on quarter to $573.1 million in its fiscal first quarter ended January 31, 2016.

The company generated $449.5 million from Networking Platforms, $25.4 million from Software and Software-Related Services and $98.2 million from Global Services.

Ciena said North America contributed 68.5 percent revenue, Europe, Middle East and Africa 14.1 percent, 7.6 percent from Caribbean and Latin America and 9.8 percent from Asia Pacific.

Ciena has reported a net loss of $11.5 million against net loss of $18.8 million in the fiscal first quarter 2015.

“We delivered strong first quarter business and financial performance, including 8 percent adjusted operating margin, highlighted by engagement with a more diverse set of customers,” said Gary B. Smith, president and CEO, Ciena.
