Alcatel-Lucent to boost Swisscom IPTV revenues

Telecom Lead Europe: Alcatel-Lucent is powering Swisscom
to offer its customers the ability to record TV programs and store them in the
cloud and then watch their recordings on any connected screen.

The service will help Swisscom differentiate their IPTV
offering and increase revenues by attracting new customers.

Alcatel-Lucent has applied its expertise in video
systems integration to free Swisscom’s customers from the limitations of set
top boxes with built-in hard-drives – that have limited storage capacity and
are often prone to repair. From now on they are able to consume their recorded
video content on any connected device such as tablets, mobile phones or PCs,”
said Jorg Nonnenmacher, vice president of Alcatel-Lucent’s multiscreen
activities.

We are pleased to continue our tradition of innovation
and offering best-in-class customer service by being the first operator in
Switzerland to offer our customers the possibility to watch their recordings on
any connected screen. As part of the increasing demand for multiscreen services
around the world, our customers want to record as much video as possible and
access it not just on their television sets but also on other devices such as
smart phones, tablets and PCs,” said Bruno Haug, Head of TV Development at
Swisscom.
