Toshiba today said its new application processors support wireless communication of high quality video.
TZ5000 series is the latest addition to its ApP Lite.
Toshiba said sample shipments will start in May, with mass production scheduled to start in September, 2014.
TZ5000 series application processors integrate a baseband function compliant with IEEE802.11ac, and incorporate 32Gbit NAND flash memory in a single package. This secures a broad bandwidth connection, and reduces mounting area, contributing to downsizing of equipment.
Toshiba the new series also adopts an original low power design, reducing power consumption and heat generation when processing multimedia applications, such as HTML5, which usually imposes a heavy load to the CPU.
One of the key features of TZ5000 series is that it achieves broadband connection by incorporating an IEEE802.11ac baseband engine, CPU, and memory into a single package.
In addition, 32Gbit NAND flash memory and a dedicated memory controller are incorporated into the package, securing fast boot of software, such as the operating system, and high speed data access. It is secure against falsification of data or hacking attacks because the program area is built into the package.
