Spreadtrum brings multimode LTE modem targeting 4G smartphones, tablets

Chinese semiconductor vendor Spreadtrum Communications announced its multimode LTE modem, the SC9620 – targeting 4G smartphones, tablets, or other data devices.

This new LTE modem pairs with Spreadtrum’s smartphone chipsets to provide complete turnkey mobile platform for 4G smartphones.

China handset brands Lenovo and Coolpad used Spreadtrum’s 4G mobile platform and are shipping in 3-mode LTE smartphones recently launched for the domestic China market.

Meanwhile, Spreadtrum has also released a turnkey solution for 3-mode LTE devices supporting TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA and EDGE/GPRS/GSM for the domestic China market. Supported TD-LTE bands include Band 38, 39, 40 and 41.

The company is also planning to launch turnkey solutions supporting 5-mode operation later this year.

“Our turnkey solutions for LTE smartphones help reduce the overall time and cost involved in bringing 4G devices to the China market,” said Leo Li, chairman and CEO of Spreadtrum Communications.
