Qualcomm Snapdragon processors chip in 29% revenue growth to $6.02 billion in Q1

Telecom Lead America: Qualcomm has posted 29 percent increase in revenue at $6.02 billion in first quarter of fiscal 2013 ended December 30, 2012.

Net income of Qualcomm increased 36 percent to $1.91 billion.

“We are pleased to report record quarterly revenues, Non-GAAP EPS and MSM chip shipments, driven by the growing global demand for smartphones and our industry-leading portfolio of 3G/LTE chipsets,” said Paul E. Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Qualcomm.

Thanks to Qualcomm’s licensing partnerships and chipset roadmap, including its recently announced Snapdragon 800 and 600 processors, the chip major has increased its revenue and earnings guidance for fiscal 2013.

In Q2, Qualcomm estimates revenues of $5.8 billion – $6.3 billion, up 17 percent – 27 percent.

In the first quarter, Qualcomm recorded MSM chip shipments at 182 million units, up 17 percent y-o-y and 29 percent sequentially.
