MediaTek launches MT7687 Wi-Fi chip for home network devices

MediaTek has launched MT7687, a Wi-Fi System-on-Chip (SoC) that allows home appliances and smart devices to connect to control through a home network.

The MT7687 will be available to customers and developers in Q3 2015.

“With this latest SoC, we focused our energy on the main concerns of the IoT developers decreasing power consumption, increasing security, and expanding programmability,” said SR Tsai, general manager of Connectivity Business Unit at MediaTek.

MediaTek India
The company said MT7687 chip provides lower power consumption to ensure maximum performance with a minimal impact on device power. The MT7687 has the ability to transmit at a maximum power output of 21dBm. Security is achieved through AES and 3DES/SHA2 protocols as security engines.

Additional MT7687 advantages:

# An ARM Cortex-M4F MCU
# 1×1 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi subsystem designed for power efficiency and robust connectivity
# 192Mhz / 200Mhz for Cortex M4
# embedded SRAM / ROM and a serial flash in package
# compact module for Smart Home appliances / devices
# integrated security engine that makes the appliances/devices more secure
