Telecom Lead America: Amazon, online retail giant and
maker of Kindle Fire tablet, is set to foray into the smartphone market. The
company will be vying with Apple’s iPhone with its new smartphone.
Foxconn that manufactures Apple’s gadgets is believed to
be working with Amazon for the new smartphone. The specifications of the latest
smartphone have not been declared by the company.
A Bloomberg report said that the new smarphone will be
based on Android’s latest OS. In addition, it is also expected that Amazon will
acquire an array of smartphone-related patents to protect itself from
infringements.
Amazon also seeks to release the next version of its
successful Kindle Fire. The new tablet will be slimmer, have a better display
and could become available in the market by September end.
Amazon.com launches Kindle Touch 3G in over 175 countries
In March this year, Amazon.com announced
the launch of Kindle Touch 3G, which is now available to its customers in over
175 countries and territories around the world.
Kindle Touch 3G enables customers to download and read
books without looking for or paying for a Wi-Fi hotspot. Kindle Touch 3G has
storage for thousands of books and an extra-long battery life.
Amazon’s hold on online sales and marketing will help the
upcoming smartphone to take on Apple’s established reign.
The company would embed an inbuilt app store and media
delivery system into its upcoming smartphone.
The inbuilt app store and media delivery system, mainly
developed for Kindle kept eliminates the need of Google Play for downloading
apps from the Android market.
