P Balaji joins Nokia India from Sony Mobile

Telecom Lead India: Nokiahas hired P Balaji as vice president and managing director for the company’s
Indian operations.

Balaji is joining Nokia India from Sony
Mobile.

At Nokia, Balaji will work towards growing Nokia’s mobile
phones and smart devices business in India while providing strategic direction
and operational focus.

Nokia has been suffering from plunging revenues and grim
sales. With this appointment, Nokia will aim to revitalize its strategy and
work towards strengthening its market presence in India.

The company jumped late to the smartphone war in which Apple
and Samsung have gained dominance. The company however introduced an array
of Windows-based Lumia smartphone to regain its lost glory.

Balaji will be responsible for energizing the Nokia brand,
driving partnerships and strategic alliances and developing the capabilities of
the Nokia organization in India.

Prior to Nokia, Balaji served Sony Mobile Communications,
India, as managing director. At Sony, he was responsible for growth strategy
and looked after establishing operator and distribution partnerships and
driving sales for the company.

Balaji possesses over two decades of experience in the IT
and telecom industry. He served major technology companies like Ericsson,
Lucent Technologies, AT&T and Tata group.

Balaji is highly respected in the IT and telecom
industry and has an excellent track record of managing businesses, people,
customer and government relationships.  I am confident that Balaji will
provide the required direction and leadership in delivering significant value

Nokia India revenue dips 1% to 2.92 billion euros in 2011

Nokia India revenue (including Nokia devices, Nokia Siemens,
and Navteq business revenues) decreased to EUR 2.923 billion in 2011 from EUR
2.952 billion in 2010.
