Lenovo smartphone shipments up 59.4 percent in Q4 fiscal 2014

Lenovo said its smartphone shipments grew 59.4 percent in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2014, outpacing the worldwide market by 28 percent.

Utilizing 4G/LTE opportunities, Lenovo App store ecosystem has delivered 6 billion downloads. It is averaging 25 million downloads daily.

In Q4 2014, Lenovo introduced smartphones, including Lenovo Vibe Z, its first LTE smartphone.

The Chinese vendor also announced the launch of new Yoga Tablet 10-inch HD+ with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with battery life of up to approximately 18 hours.

Meanwhile, sales of Mobile Internet and Digital Home (MIDH) rose 71 percent to $1.3 billion or 13 percent of Lenovo’s overall sales during the fourth fiscal quarter.

Lenovo’s total revenues increased 14 percent to $38.7 billion with earnings of $817 million that rose 29 percent. Lenovo had strong fourth quarter revenue of US$9.4 billion, up 19 percent year-over-year.

Lenovo sold 64 million Tablets and PCs devices, registering an increase of nearly 18 percent.

Lenovo posted 37 percent growth in device shipments to 114 million. This was the 4th quarter in a row that Lenovo sold more tablets and smartphones than PCs.
