Micron granted $6.1 bn subsidy under the U.S. CHIPS Act

Micron Technology has been granted a $6.1 billion subsidy under the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act to support the construction of semiconductor manufacturing facilities in New York and Idaho. This investment is expected to create at least 20,000 jobs by the end of the decade.

Additionally, the company has agreed with the U.S. Department of Commerce on preliminary terms for a $275 million investment to expand its facility in Manassas, Virginia. This expansion aims to bolster domestic production of chips critical to sectors like defense, automotive, and industrial markets.
