Fixed Wireless Access (FWA):

FWA providers gained a significant share of new broadband customers by offering varied pricing tiers appealing to mobile users, as well as existing Cable, DSL, and Fiber subscribers.

Fixed Wireless CPE unit shipments experienced their fifth consecutive quarter of Y/Y growth, with a notable 19 percent increase.

PON Equipment:

Spending on Passive Optical Network (PON) equipment grew by 6 percent compared to Q3 2023, with an 11 percent increase in PON Optical Network Terminal (ONT) investments.

North America saw ONT shipments surpass the 2 million mark for the first time since Q1 2023.

DOCSIS Infrastructure:

Spending on DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) infrastructure surged by 26 percent Y/Y, driven by increased investments in Remote PHY Devices (RPDs) and Virtual CMTS (vCMTS) platforms.

Residential Wi-Fi Routers:

While shipments remained flat Y/Y, there was a remarkable growth in Wi-Fi 7 units, with shipments rising by 5935 percent, particularly fueled by low-cost dual-band units in China.

Outlook for 2025: Spending on Broadband Access equipment is expected to recover, though providers are likely to proceed cautiously due to high-interest rates impacting the cost of capital, at least during the first half of the year.
