US Telecom Giants Deploy Critical Connectivity Solutions Amid Texas Flooding

After flooding in Texas, AT&T activated its FirstNet network for public safety, deployed a 40-foot Mobile Connectivity Center with free Wi-Fi and charging stations, and provided power equipment to the Texas Department of Emergency Management. T-Mobile maintained network operations, sent community support vehicles with Wi-Fi and supplies to shelters, and activated direct-to-device SMS with SpaceX. Verizon kept its network operational, used satellite connectivity to support drone search and rescue, and supplied low-earth orbit satellite devices to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Mobile World Live reports.

Zain KSA and Huawei Launch Innovative Riyadh Antenna to Boost Saudi Mobile Network

Zain KSA and Huawei have launched the Riyadh Antenna Platform to improve Saudi Arabia’s mobile infrastructure as part of Saudi Vision 2030. The antenna has a cylindrical design that reduces wind resistance by 30 percent to 60 percent, allowing installation in areas with high wind loads. This lowers the need for structural reinforcement and enables faster deployment. Multiple antenna arrays are integrated into a single unit, enhancing network coverage without increasing antenna size, which benefits urban areas with limited space. The platform includes an Antenna Information Sensor Unit (AISU) and Remote Azimuth Steering (RAS) technology, allowing operators to remotely monitor and adjust antenna performance.

India’s Telecom Industry Prepares 10–12% Mobile Tariff Hike

India’s telecom industry plans a 10–12 percent mobile tariff increase by the end of 2025 after adding 7.4 million active subscribers in May, reaching 1.08 billion users. Operators like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea focus on mid-to-high-tier plans to reduce subscriber loss. The rise in active users is partly due to the return of secondary SIM cards linked to essential services. The sector is expanding 5G networks and introducing tiered pricing models. Operators face rising operational costs and must recover investments in 5G infrastructure, Gadgets360 reports.
