Nokia Teams Up with HPE to Fast-Track 5G to 6G Transition

Nokia has licensed HPE’s RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) technology to integrate into its MantaRay Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) platform. The integration will enable automation and orchestration in radio access networks (RAN) and support the transition from 5G to 6G. As part of the deal, 45 engineers from HPE’s RIC development unit joined Nokia’s Mobile Networks division to work on the initiative. Nokia plans to use the technology to manage multi-vendor networks and streamline operations across RAN deployments.

Vodafone and Nokia Achieve 94 percent Latency Drop with Lag-Busting L4S Trial

Vodafone and Nokia conducted a trial of L4S (Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable throughput) technology on a live Fibre to the Home (FTTH) network in Istanbul, Turkey, aiming to reduce internet delays during gaming, videoconferencing, and streaming. Implementation of L4S reduced latency from 220 milliseconds to 4.7 milliseconds, a 94 percent decrease, marking the first live deployment of L4S on a full FTTH network end-to-end. L4S addresses queuing delays, which occur when data packets are held in network buffers before reaching their destination.

Conekt.ai and Globalstar Join Forces to Transform IoT Connectivity Across Private, Public, and Satellite Networks

Conekt.ai and Globalstar announced a collaboration to deliver IoT connectivity using private, public, and satellite networks. The partnership combines Globalstar’s Band 53 spectrum and XCOM RAN technology with Conekt.ai’s orchestration platform, allowing enterprise customers to connect devices across multiple networks seamlessly. Conekt.ai’s platform acts as a control point, managing licensed spectrum, satellite, and public networks in a unified interface, providing real-time monitoring, network management, and insights for connected devices. Globalstar’s Band 53 spectrum and XCOM RAN support data transfer and connectivity for IoT deployments and private networks.
