AST SpaceMobile Sets August Launch for Next BlueBird Satellites
AST SpaceMobile has confirmed that its BlueBird 11, 12, and 13 satellites are scheduled to launch on August 5, 2026, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, with the launch window opening at 3:42 a.m. EDT and a backup opportunity at 5:10 a.m. The mission marks another major step in expanding the company’s direct-to-smartphone satellite broadband network for commercial and government users. The launch follows the successful deployment of BlueBird satellites 8, 9, and 10 in June, demonstrating an accelerating constellation rollout. AST SpaceMobile is also advancing production of additional BlueBird satellites to support the rapid expansion of its global space-based cellular connectivity network.
Bangladesh Regulator Fines Four Mobile Operators Over Illegal VoIP SIMs
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has imposed combined fines of Tk8.21 crore on four mobile operators after detecting 8,380 SIM cards linked to illegal Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) activities. Robi Axiata received the largest penalty of Tk5.91 crore for 5,907 SIMs, followed by Banglalink with Tk1.86 crore for 1,859 SIMs. State-owned Teletalk was fined Tk45 lakh for 450 SIMs, while Grameenphone received Tk18.4 lakh for 164 SIMs. The regulator said the operators failed to implement mandatory self-regulation and telecom fraud management measures. The violations were uncovered during joint enforcement operations conducted with the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre in April.
