C-DOT and IISc Join Forces to Drive India’s Next Generation Telecom Innovation

The collaboration will advance research in 5G and beyond, 6G, artificial intelligence, quantum communications, cybersecurity, optical networks, and advanced telecom applications. The initiative aims to bridge academia, industry, and government by supporting joint research, technology development, innovation, skill building, and startup incubation. The Centre of Excellence is expected to strengthen indigenous telecom capabilities, accelerate commercialization of advanced technologies, and reinforce India’s ambition to become a global leader in future telecommunications.
India to Establish First Telecom Manufacturing Zone in Gwalior
The Central Government and the Madhya Pradesh Government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding to establish India’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone in Gwalior, marking a significant milestone for the country’s electronics and telecom manufacturing sector. The dedicated zone will attract investments across telecom equipment production, semiconductor-related manufacturing, and allied industries while strengthening domestic supply chains. The project is expected to generate employment, encourage technology transfers, and support the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. By creating a specialized manufacturing ecosystem, the zone aims to position India as a competitive global hub for telecom equipment production and exports while reducing reliance on imports.
PLI Scheme Creates 36,000 Telecom Jobs as India Expands Manufacturing Base
India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for telecom and networking products has generated around 36,000 jobs while significantly strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities. The initiative has attracted substantial investments, increased production of telecom equipment, and boosted exports, supporting India’s objective of becoming a global manufacturing hub. Government officials highlighted that the scheme has encouraged companies to establish local production facilities, reduce import dependence, and develop advanced telecom technologies within the country.
