Motorola Solutions powers top Indian hotels’ Wi-Fi in 2012

Telecom Lead Asia: Motorola Solutions says several Indian hotels have deployed its WiNG5 based Wi-Fi solutions in 2012.

These hotels — local and international brands — include Taj, Lemon Tree, Royal Orchid, Starwood, Park Plaza, and Spree Hotels, said Motorola on Thursday.

Motorola Solutions’ wireless networking — which offers future ready wireless portfolio — enables top hotels to deliver internet access.

Subodh Vardhan, managing director, Motorola Solutions India, said:
“Our hospitality portfolio is diverse and comprehensive and follows a 360 degree approach to guest satisfaction. Our WiNG5 Wi-Fi network caters to the demanding high speed internet access and sophisticated in-room experience of a hotel guest.”

Motorola Solutions claims that its client engineering team enjoys productivity gains of up to 30 percent.

Venkat Kedlaya, co-founder & managing director, Convergent Communications, said: “Motorola’s portfolio and hospitality specific innovations have helped us maintain an edge and differentiation both in terms of quality and investment assurance for our customers.”

In January 2013, Motorola Solutions said its Q4 2012 revenue increased 6 percent to $2.44 billion. Its quarterly profit rose 89 percent, boosted by higher government spending on public safety.

Motorola Solutions’ net income from operations rose to $336 million in the fourth quarter from $177 million a year earlier. For the full year 2012, Motorola Solutions’ enterprise segment sales were $2.7 billion, down 5 percent from 2011.

Tolly, a testing and strategic consulting organization, in its report that studies Motorola and several competing solutions for remote branch office environments, concluded that WiNG5 architecture delivers unique differentiation across several areas deemed critical for a wireless network in comparison to other leading industry solutions.

Motorola Solutions says its AP6511 802.11n Wall Plate solution allows for an easy plug and play deployment within minutes at any location to support consistent bandwidth requirements.

Designed for hotels, dormitories, apartment buildings, the AP uses existing CAT 5/6 cabling to cover multiple rooms with minimal site
planning. A single AP 6511 can serve as a controller for up to 24 dependant 6511 access points to present a highly cost efficient option.
