BSNL loses 3.61 lakh wireline subscribers in July: TRAI

The state-run telecom operator BSNL has lost 3.61 lakh wireline (landline / fixed) subscribers in July 2014, TRAI data showed today.

Apart from wireline customers, BSNL lost 1.39 million mobile subscribers in the same month.

TRAI said wireline subscriber base declined to 27.68 million in July, 2014 from 28.03 million in June, 2014.

MTNL, another state-run telecom operator, has lost 5,834 wireline users in its Mumbai and Delhi telecom circles, while Reliance Communications lost 3,649 users.

On the other hand, Tata Teleservices has added 11,229 wireline customers, Bharti Airtel 7,240 and Vodafone 5,100.

Wireline telecom operator market share in India

Net reduction in wireline subscriber base was 0.35 million, registering a decline of 1.23 percent. The share of urban and rural subscribers in total wireline subscribers are 79.46 percent and 20.54 percent, respectively.
