India broadband subscriber base grows 2.87% to 70.8 mn

TRAI data today showed that India broadband subscriber base grew 2.87 percent to 70.8 million in July 2014 from 68.83 million in June.

Out of 70.8 million, wired broadband was 15.04 million and dongles/mobile was 55.34 million, while the remaining from VSAT / Wi-Fi / etc.

In July 2014, BSNL has 18.14 million wired and wireless broadband subscribers, Bharti Airtel 15.61 million, Vodafone 11.23 million, Idea Cellular 9.06 million and Reliance Communications 6.23 million, said TRAI.

Broadband market share

Top five wired broadband service providers are BSNL with 9.98 million subscribers, Bharti Airtel with 1.4 million, MTNL 1.13 million, Beam Telecom (0.40 million and YOU Broadband 0.40 million.

Top five wireless broadband service providers are Bharti Airtel with 14.21 million subscribers, Vodafone 11.23 million, Idea Cellular 9.06 million, BSNL 8.16 million and Reliance Communications 6.12 million.
