Telecom Lead India: Paytm, a company incubated by One97, is set to expand real time bus location tracking services with GPS.
At present, the real-time tracking will be available for large bus operators in South India – Morning Star Travels, Orange Tours & Travels, SVR Tours & Travels, Navin Travels, Sree Travels and Kaveri Kamkshi Travels.
Paytm is targeting more than 1000 buses with real-time GPS for commuters who book through the site in a couple of months. This service will be available in 100 more cities — Hyderabad, Guntur, Vijayawada, Bangalore, Tirupati, Vishakhapatnam, Mumbai, Pune, Nellore, Chennai, Erode, Salem, Madurai, Nagpur, Ongole, Mysore, Coimbatore, etc.
Paytm says customers booking online through Paytm.com on their mobile phone can now track the estimated arrival time of their bus before they leave for the boarding point. This makes Paytm the first commerce site to provide this unique service to commuters.
Commuters can also book a bus journey on Paytm, based on whether the bus has real-time GPS system installed in it or not. They will receive a SMS an hour before the boarding time giving them details of current location of the bus and the estimated time of the arrival at the boarding point. Users can refresh the link to know the current status of the bus.
