Spirent to test IT infrastructure of Sejong City in South Korea

South Korea’s Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) has selected Spirent Communications solutions to benchmark the performance and functionality of an IT network deployed in Sejong City, the country’s new multifunctional administrative, business and technology hub.

TTA, tasked to advance IT technologies and applications in the new city, is using Spirent
TestCenter and Spirent HyperMetrics modules to conduct performance and functional testing of network routers and switches planned for deployment.

Testing with Spirent enables TTA to ensure that the communications and IT networks in Sejong City
will deliver high performance, reliable, secure and scalable next-generation enterprise and residential services over wireline, wireless and cellular networks.

With the new city’s infrastructure expected to offer a range of consumer and business
services such as IPTV, video on demand, video conferencing, and VoIP, TTA is trusting Spirent to validate the network’s readiness and its ability to deliver on its full potential.

Sejong City was designed to be a model planned community with best-in-class communications
infrastructure,” said Dong-Hyun Seok, senior researcher at TTA.
Testing with Spirent solutions helps us ensure the network can reliably and securely support
millions of subscribers accessing a myriad of multi-play applications. Spirent’s extensive testing experience and high-quality customer support were key factors in our selection of the test vendor’s solutions as we work to help deliver services that many people have only dreamed of,” Seok added.

Spirent TestCenter benchmarked the Ethernet and IPv6 performance of a variety of network equipment solutions, enabling TTA to fully evaluate network equipment before deployment. Spirent TestCenter’s high port density and accurate low latency testing were critical contributors to TTA’s ability to validate network and application performance.

As we migrate to a connected world characterized by media-rich applications and mobility, testing the readiness of networks for today’s and tomorrow’s services remains a critical step in the deployment of these systems,” said Gene Zhang, vice president, Asia Pacific at Spirent.

By leveraging Spirent’s high-performance test solutions, TTA is able to ensure the highest
level of network performance in this new city.
Spirent recently introduced the latest generation of its HyperMetrics modules, the Spirent TestCenter HyperMetrics mX 40/100G Ethernet test module, to help ensure delivery of the mobile multi play experience by combining high performance stateful traffic, high-scale routing, and access and mobile control plane testing on a single module.

The solution can be used to test the access network, routing, mobile backhaul, mobility, cloud infrastructure and application performance.
Spirent’s Ethernet and next-generation network testing solutions help its customers become market leaders by providing unsurpassed test realism.
Spirent TestCenter leverages its multi-core architecture to offer cost effective, high-port density modules with flexibility and high functionality. This industry first architecture advantage enables optimal performance for realistic testing, with high scalability and intelligent results analysis.
