During 2014-19, Ravi Shankar Prasad was the Union Minister for Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Ministry of Law and Justice (India). Ravi Shankar Prasad also held the portfolio of the telecom ministry in the initial part of the NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Under his tenure, India significantly improved digital inclusion coverage in rural areas and his departments worked on cybersecurity, data privacy and several new e-governance activities for building the Digital India concept.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, represents the state of Bihar as a member of Parliament from Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency.
